It's a player's guide, not the rulebook

If you only care about playing in The Strange, or want a smaller book to hand out to your players, this is worth considering. The player's guide gives you want you need to make a character, some equipment ideas and several sample characters that you can look at for examples. Is this all you need to run The Strange. No, nowhere close. But a great book to pick up if you want to just play in The Strange.
96 pages. Not a bad deal for the cover price of $20.

Everything a players needs to dive into the Strange, rules and setting. I love the concept of these books,it contains everything a player should know without forcing them to buy the full core book. Plus the prices is right.

this book works great. No problem there

I bought this book because I knew I would not be paying $40 to get the Core Book, since I am just a player and not the GM. As a basic source book for all the abilities, skills, and other character creation info, this book works great. No problem there.
However, as an introduction to the setting and lore of The Strange, there really isn't much here. Very very little. This was a bit frustrating since the book jacket does advertise an introduction to the setting, as well as two recursions. I could not find much to that, and more frustrating still is that the book often references these two races/settings as if it had. I was dependent on the GM to understand this setting and how best to create a character that fits in this world. But once that was done, giving my character a focus, abilities and skills was a cinch thanks to this book.
Still recommended.
