Great buy! This book is incredibly useful and yes I hear some of you out there saying "you just wasted money on a book that you didn't need! Read the instructions for once!" Well I believe that even with instructions it's hard to fully grasp the capabilities of the camera if your new to this sort of thing or upgraded to this kind of camera! It's a whole new level of equipment and this book has broken down everything I needed to know! So overall great buy!

Definitely worthwhile as an expanded reference for the functions of the T6 / 1300D camera. Especially good for those needing help as first time DSLR camera users, or those just needing a refresher. Good explanations with lots of photographs to illustrate functions in an easy to understand way. Definitely worth your time to check it out.

The "Missing Manual" for the Canon T6. Easy to understand with lots of illustrative photos

After looking for years for a camera, I finally decided to buy a Canon Rebel T6. The manual that comes with it is a typical camera manual, difficult to read, small, and very technical. Ironically, there are few photos in the multi-language booklet that comes with the camera.

I refer to this book as the "Missing Manual" because it's exactly what I need to better understand how to use my T6. Yes, I can put it on auto and shoot great photos, but it seems like I'm wasting most of the capabilities of this camera. The book is well-organized, with a "quick start" section and lots of 4-color comparison photos that show you the actual effect of various settings on the camera (landscape, portrait, etc.)

Like the rest of the Dummies series, (they seem to be reducing the font size of "Dummies" finally since it offends some people), the book is written in plain English without a lot of technical jargon. In fact, then they do get technical, there's a helpful icon in the left margin that says "Technical Stuff"... other icons include "Tip" "Warning" and "Remember" which are helpful as you scan through a chapter.

I'm not a professional, just an amateur enthusiast, and this is exactly the book I was looking for. Highly recommended.

Alex Dimitrov is a�recipient of the Stanley Kunitz Prize from The American Poetry Review, author of the�e-chapbook, American Boys,�and the founder of Wilde Boys, a queer poetry salon. Beautiful and searing.

Ever imagine a knife to the heart feeling tender? Then read Alex Dimitrov's poems for their brutal eloquence. Even the silences are savage in "Begging for It." Dimitrov forces us to admit just how inseparable our troubled minds are from our needy bodies. Lust doesn't happen here without the dry ice of analysis. And ideas themselves take on physicality --hungry, bruised, sweet with pain. A beautiful, searing book. Read it and weep.

A special feature of this book is diagnostics of rotating machinery using vibration signature analysis and application of expert systems to a field engineer in trouble shooting work.

About the Author

Born in Salt Lake City, Charlie N. Holmberg was raised a Trekkie alongside three sisters who also have boy names. In addition to writing fantasy novels, she is also a freelance editor. She graduated from BYU, plays the ukulele, owns too many pairs of glasses, and hopes to one day own a dog. Her debut novel, The Paper Magician, is the first title in her fantasy series and is followed by the equally enchanting The Glass Magician. She currently lives with her family in Utah.

The first book was better...

but this one wasn't bad. There were a few annoying inconsistencies -- the Americanisms were jarring at times -- but I got a swift ride deeper into a world I want to continue exploring.

Listing my major peeves with the plot would require spoilers, so I'll settle for mentioning a minor one:

Crony is impetuous, reckless and not quite as clearly developed as I expected her to be at this point. I would have been just as satisfied (and dissatisfied) had the author switched POV characters for this instalment. She was less important to me than the world she lives in. And I like my characters to matter as much as the setting.

Excellent Second Novel

I like this series because it brings a new dimension to the magic genre. This follow-on to The Paper Magician is every bit as good as the first book and just as engaging. It does go down a familiar road with the cross-discipline magic use but that is OK and works well in the plot of the novel. While you don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one, doing so makes this tale more engaging as it adds to the level of difficulty being overcome by the heroine. I liked the ides behind these books and consider it a worthwhile break from the usual fare.

Pleasant, Quirky, and Interesting

This is not going to be a profound, detailed review, because I don't feel the book warrants it. I read the first book, The Paper Magician, for free as part of the Kindle First program, and really enjoyed it. I am currently reading the third book, Master Magician, so it's safe to say I am hooked. These books are pleasant and interesting, they are quirky and well-written. I'd say these fall rather below the ranking of "literature," but there's certainly more to them than your average bit of "chick lit." Ceony's super-hero complex is starting to wear on me just a little bit, but not so much that I wouldn't read another "Magician" book if one is in the offing, and I'll certainly peruse the author's other books, as I have found these three so thoroughly enjoyable.

Super Deluxe book on Taguchi Methods!

While the subtitle “World’s Best Practices for Developing Winning Vehicles” points to being automotive centric, the case studies relate to a wide variety of common engineering issues. The Automotive Fuel pump case study could just as easily been a glucose pump, hydraulic pump, lubricant pump etc… Bottom line: Great book on the use of Taguchi Methods with a wide variety of case studies. Highly recommend this book for every engineer regardless of industry.

Captivating Historical Fiction

My 12 year old son has been reading this series. Generally, he is not a huge fan of leisure reading, but he has really enjoyed these books. We started off requiring him to read three chapters a day, but he quickly wanted to continue reading more. They were a huge hit! We enjoy the fact that while reading he is also learning a lot about Japanese culture in the 1600's. This series is not only entertaining but educational, as well. I highly recommend this series to young boys...maybe older ones too! :)

My 12 year old son wasn't a big reader but he's been involved in the martial arts since he's about 5. Trying to figure out a way to get him to read more, I started purchasing the Young Samurai series as they come out and he's been devouring them. I have to admit, I have to. He'll read to me out loud at night and he's even introduced to Japanese words / terminology. This is a great series that keeps he and I interested and eager for the next one to come out.

best 1 iv read so far. to be fair it's 'couse the plot is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great.

SketchUp For Interior Design: 3D Visualizing, Designing and Space Planning

We've had the basic SketchUp program for a few years now and to be quite honest it's not as user-friendly as other art app's. We've attempted to use it on a couple of occasions, watch some tutorials from professionals but have never successfully made that leap from observer to practitioner.

This book, SU for Interior Design is a classroom-in-a-book kind of instruction book where you're given a project and you have a step-by-step walkthrough which includes screenshots of the dropdown windows and pop-up boxes that occur when you make a certain move. I've, personally, love classroom-in-a-book style of instruction over others (with the obvious exclusion of having a real-live instructor standing over your shoulder) because if you get stuck, all you have to do is backtrack a couple of moves instead of starting over from scratch.

Good info on a great program

I've read "Google Sketchup For Dummies" as well as this book, so I'll be comparing them somewhat. For those of you who don't know, Google Sketchup is a fun, useful, and free program anyone can learn to use. I use it to create or setup 3d models to use as reference for art and comic book illustrations.

Overall, this is a very good book. It seems like it jumps into the deep end much faster than "Google Sketchup For Dummies" and covers a lot of good modeling info. But, if you're totally new to Sketchup, I'd say the Dummies book is probably a better intro. I like the way it flows, better, especially for a beginner (which I was when I read it). If you already know something about Sketchup, this book is probably the way to go. It has some pretty detailed modeling projects in there, but doesn't waste a lot of time explaining the tools, so I could see it getting a little confusing for a complete newby to the software.

The back of the book says there is additional online content, but I haven't been able to access it. I go to the website but there isn't any way to register, that I'm seeing. My only other complaint about the book is the price. It seems quite expensive for a book of this kind, especially when you can get a lot of free info online already. But I definitely recommend this book.

A very worthwhile book for Architects and Interior Designers who wish to either learn SketchUp for the first time, or supplement their knowledge base. Filled with informative tips and exercises that assure you learn the skills necessary to communicate your design ideas. Lydia Cline has built upon her strong, standards-based graphic foundations first seen in her 2007 book: Architectural Drafting for Interior Designers. She has adeptly brought these skills to the SketchUp application in a way that is both thorough and easy to understand.

A valuable reference for all architectural or interior design offices looking to upgrade their office skills.
