My hobby is reading about airplane accidents and the investigation necessary to discover its cause and the action taken to assure the same thing does not happen again.
This book was indeed one that I enjoyed.

interesting book about Delta 191, outdated info

To the best of my knowledge, this is the only book exclusively about Delta flight 191 out there. Because of that alone, it is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to learn about the crash. It is well-written, clearly by someone with a background in journalism, and captures the human aspect of Delta 191 very well.
The biggest issue is that this book was published in 1986 (one year after the crash) and much of its content is very outdated. At least 1/3 of the book is about airplane safety from an op-ed perspective (no longer relevant 29 years later). Also, the fact that it was published so soon after the crash makes it somewhat incomplete.
Overall, I recommend the book if you want to learn more about Delta 191. You may just want to skip past the sections covering mid 1980's air travel safety concerns.

interesting story. focus on people.

There are not a lot of technicalities about this accident. You can tell a newspaper writer did this mostly from a human point of view just after the accident. the technical details are somewhat lacking, and could have been enhanced if the book writer had waited for the full accident report. I have seen simulation, both computer, and ground human mechanical, that showed that what happened was unavoidable unless, the landing would have been aborted. but even then..... the section on lifting bodies is kind of unneccesary,and pointless. Overall a stirring portrait of a tragedy. the title is perfect.
